In 1997, CraneWerks emerged with a bold vision – to revolutionize the U.S. material handling scene dominated by overseas corporations who were nearly monopolizing the market. Fueled by the spirit of American entrepreneurship, we set out to level the playing field for small and mid-level businesses.

The initial goal was simple yet impactful: offer high-quality, cost-effective material handling solutions that our dealers could proudly present to their customers.

How?

By weaving a tight-knit web of partner dealerships across the nation. This wasn’t just about cranes; it was a mission to empower the backbone of our economy. Giving the small- and mid-sized companies the ability to say, “yes,” to new equipment, installations, and other services. They may have just been a service company or have one hoist line, we gave them the ability to provide their customers with more.

Starting from a modest base of operations in Arlington, Indiana, company founder Mark Thomas and his team embarked on the journey to build their own dealer-only network. This cooperative approach, which continues today, has successfully placed competitively priced overhead cranes, industrial cranes, and material handling products into the hands of customers through our dealers.

Through strategic alliances and bulk purchasing, we tilted the scales, giving local enterprises the competitive edge they deserved. Offering products and services that weren’t available to them before.

In 2008, CraneWerks made a significant move to a spacious 65,000 square-foot facility in Morristown, IN, strategically located at the heart of the USA, easily accessible from every corner of the country. Our continually expanding team of dedicated engineering, manufacturing, and technical experts is available round the clock, all sharing a common objective: to bolster and expand our dealer network, ensuring sustained success for all parties involved. The future shines brightly for independent dealers in America, and CraneWerks takes pride in its ongoing role in securing these prosperous times ahead.

Fast forward

This straightforward approach has evolved into a robust business model. Our extensive dealer-only network allows us to secure components at discounted rates and design cranes and crane systems in-house, thus reducing costs and enhancing our dealers’ competitiveness. When an independent dealer joins the CraneWerks network, it’s akin to having our factory right alongside their sales office. The dealer handles the sales aspect of our partnership, and when necessary, we provide operational support.

Through the decades, the principle remains unchanged. We’ve grown, evolved, and diversified our offerings, but the heartbeat of CraneWerks pulses with the same dedication. We’re still fighting the good fight, weaving a tale of resilience and unity for American businesses. It’s a story of refusing to let the ‘big guys’ dictate the narrative.
