The Cerebral Palsy Foundation

The Cerebral Palsy Foundation stands as a beacon of support for the 17,000,000 individuals worldwide grappling with cerebral palsy and their families. With a global mission to enhance awareness, support public policy, foster research, and invest in improving health outcomes and quality of life, CPF is at the forefront of creating positive change.

Collaboration in Research

CPF’s influence extends beyond borders, collaborating with esteemed organizations like the World Health Organization, UNICEF, and the United Nations to uplift lives globally. Their advocacy efforts span a wide spectrum, advocating for US federal funding for national cerebral palsy initiatives. This includes championing the establishment of a comprehensive national cerebral palsy research agenda covering critical areas such as early detection, surveillance, translational research, genomics, and regenerative medicine, among others.

Funding

The foundation’s ongoing advocacy aims to bridge the gap in cerebral palsy research funding, given its profound impact on over 1,000,000 Americans and millions worldwide. Despite its prevalence, cerebral palsy research remains significantly underfunded, highlighting the urgent need for increased investment and attention.

The #GoGreen4CP Movement

One of CPF’s landmark initiatives is the #GoGreen4CP movement, which gains momentum on March 25th, designated as National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day since 2006. Cynthia Frisina, Senior VP of Strategic Partnerships at CPF, spearheaded this day to spotlight the persistent lack of progress in cerebral palsy treatment and research. Through CPF’s merger with Reaching for the Stars in 2019, the foundation’s reach and impact expanded, leading to the establishment of the #GoGreen4CP movement and nationwide community engagement.

Shaping Research Agendas & Policies

CPF’s tireless efforts in US advocacy focus on amplifying federal investment in cerebral palsy research at vital institutions like the National Institutes of Health and Centers for Disease Control & Prevention. Collaborating with lawmakers, policy makers, and stakeholders, CPF ensures that the voice of the cerebral palsy community is heard and prioritized in shaping research agendas and policies.
