Supporting the Longest Day with Lucys for Lynn
Lucys for Lynn was founded by Ashley Larochelle and Mark Thomas in honor of Lynn Thomas—Ashley’s mother and Mark’s wife—who passed away after a hard-fought battle with Alzheimer’s. In her final days, Lynn was gifted a doll she lovingly named Lucy. That simple, powerful connection became the inspiration for an organization that now brings that same comfort to countless others by donating dolls to nursing homes and individuals year-round. These dolls do more than provide companionship—they give recipients a renewed sense of structure, purpose, and responsibility.

The highlight of the organization’s year is its Christmas delivery program. With Santa leading the way, Lucys for Lynn delivers dolls, sings carols, and shares joy with residents across multiple facilities. “Santa is someone everyone recognizes, no matter what stage they’re in,” Ashley explains. “He lights up the room—and the people in it.” But their impact doesn’t stop at Christmas. Dolls are available throughout the year for those in need, reminding us that care and compassion have no season.
How to Honor the Longest Day
This June 20, on the longest day of the year, we invite you to wear purple, join our walk, and stand with us in the fight to end Alzheimer’s. Whether you’ve been personally affected or simply want to support the cause, your presence and participation will help spread awareness and raise critical funds for the Alzheimer’s Association’s care, support, and research efforts.
